Fellow .NET users,

I hope everyone had a chance to attend the Heartland Developers Conference this month. This coming year is exciting with announcements from PDC including Visual Studio 2010. Look for exciting topics and developments with PDC content in the coming year.

Our next .NET Users Group meeting will be held on Thursday, November 13th, at 6:00pm (food will be provided 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of the meeting).

Meeting Details

Speaker:

Barry Sandall, Software Engineering Services (SES)

Topic:

Entity Data Modeling using the ADO.Net Entity Framework

***Overview:

The Microsoft® Entity Data Model (EDM), based on Dr. Peter Chen's Entity Relationship (ER) model, is the driving force behind the ADO.NET Entity Framework. The EDM is also the feature that most significantly differentiates the Entity Framework from other ORM-style technologies in the marketplace. The EDM builds on the ER model to raise the abstraction level for models an order higher than logical models while still preserving the concepts of entities and relationships. Beginning with a short overview of Entity Data Modeling (what and why), the balance of the presentation will detail a walkthrough of the tools available in Visual Studio 2008 and how to use them.

******Food, Giveaways, Great Information:

Definitely! Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition, and a Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000!
