Join us as we explore how you can use innovations in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 to develop, deliver and manage the next generation of applications. At this free half-day **MSDN event, **we will cover the “best of” content and deliver highlights from the “New Efficiency Launch” events taking place nationwide. **
SESSION 1: Taking Your Application to the Next Level with Windows 7** Windows 7 has several user interface and performance enhancements from the Windows 7 Taskbar, Jump Lists, and more. While your application will run on Windows 7 without leveraging these new features, your users will be far more productive if they are able to quickly open recent documents and records, find information and navigate your application in a natural way that is consistent with the rest of their Windows 7 experience. In this session, we will show you how to make your application shine, optimizing the user experience and performance on Windows 7 **
SESSION 2: Light up Your Application with Graphics, Multi-touch and Ribbon on Windows 7** In this session, we explore what’s possible with the graphics to deliver compelling ease of use. We start by exploring the new DirectWrite and Direct2D APIs will allow you to add fast, scalable, high-quality, 2D and 3D graphics, text, and images to your applications. Next we show you how Multi-touch and the Ribbon provide powerful capabilities to differentiate your application. Windows 7 supports multi-touch out of the box so you can extend this same paradigm into the software world and with very little code, you are able to recognize and respond to multiple gestures at once and give your users a very natural method of interacting with your application. The Ribbon allows you to replace the outdated battleship gray chrome in your application with a rich, animated UI. In this session, we will explore both the multi-touch APIs, as well as the Ribbon's markup-based UI. SESSION 3: What’s new and changed in Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2 and the 64-bit versions of Windows 7 support more than 64 Logical Processors (LP) on a single computer. The operating system includes enhanced support of Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) computer architectures along with new User-Mode Thread Scheduling technology. Developers will appreciate new Parallel Computing capabilities now enabled with libraries such as the C++ Concurrency Runtime and .NET Parallel Extensions and complementary tools support with Visual Studio 2010.
