Fellow .Net Users, We have several exciting things happening soon.  First, our next .Net UG meeting is taking place on Thursday April 30th starting at 6:00 PM.  As always, food and drink will be served free of charge by our sponsor starting 15-20 minutes beforehand.

Additionally, please consider attending the Spring Developer Happy hour on Wednesday May 6th.  More details can be found here: http://bit.ly/1aLW53a.  We’ll also have a fun surprise for this month’s meeting, but you’ll need to come to find out what it is.  ;-)  I hope you’ll consider joining us for this month’s meeting.  BuilderTREND has been a great sponsor with a fun atmosphere in the past, I expect no less for this meeting.  They wanted me to make sure that you knew they would be raffling off 2 kindle fires and 4 $50 gift cards!  WOW! **Location: **

Extending WebApi to fit your web service needs Web services have become increasingly popular in recent years as a method to expose data to a client application. Microsoft has created WebApi as an easy framework to create web services for a new or existing ASP.NET web application. BuilderTREND will explore WebApi and how it integrates with an ASP.NET application and how JavaScript can be utilized to consume from WebApi’s web services. The technologies that we will be using are Visual Studio, ASP.NET, WebApi, jQuery, JSON, and knockout. This presentation will demonstrate the basic setup and configuration for WebApi in an ASP.NET web application before delving into more advanced topics.  Those topics will include: adding custom message handlers to provide authentication, filters that can authorize user permissions and filters that can modify the request and response. Limitations of WebApi and workarounds discovered will be addressed as well. Presenter:

Luke Pfeiffer has 4 years of software development experience. He is currently an Application Developer at BuilderTREND. Prior to BuilderTREND he worked at STRATCOM developing software solutions for various issues. This included creating a web application using .NET technologies, such as MVC and Entity Framework. He has been developing using the .NET framework throughout his career and has ample JavaScript experience. This will be Luke’s first attendance of the Omaha .NET User Group. Sponsor:

BuilderTREND was founded in 2006 as a result of a simple observation: Residential construction companies needed a user-friendly, web-based software. Software to help them build more projects, build them faster, reduce costly communication errors, and ultimately maximize customer satisfaction. While the system has expanded and become the most widely used and comprehensive cloud system in residential construction, our core principals about customer service have not changed. At the end of the day, we are a customer service company, we just happen to have the best residential construction software in the world.  BuilderTREND has grown its team to over 80 members. In late 2014, BuilderTREND expanded into a 27,000 sq-ft. office space in Omaha, Nebraska and created a "build-out" with employee satisfaction as the #1 priority. We're proud to have built a team environment where hard work is rewarded. We've also proven that work can and should be fun. After all you spend as many "awake hours" at work as at home! Our 2,000+ square-foot employee break area is equipped with a ping pong table, video game nook, pool table, three TVs, and soda fountain to name a few. Every Friday afternoon the entire team is treated to free lunch from great Omaha restaurants where we get a chance to build relationships far deeper than just "co-workers". http://www.buildertrend.com/about.aspx Thanks!
